Optibus Appoints Sharad Agarwal as Managing Director, North America

Optibus, a global leader in AI-powered software solutions for public transportation, is thrilled to announce the appointment of Sharad Agarwal as Managing Director, North America. Sharad will spearhead Optibus’ business growth across the United States and Canada and drive the region’s access to cutting-edge digital solutions for public transportation planning and operations. 

Sharad brings to Optibus more than two decades of experience across the transportation industry, including charter coach, bus manufacturing, public transportation, and shared autonomous vehicles. His expertise in new technologies led to leadership roles at First Transit (now Transdev) and EasyMile, while also joining as an advisor and board member for new mobility startups and organizations. Embodying Optibus’ impact-driven and entrepreneurial spirit, Sharad joins us as the former CEO and co-founder of his own AI-driven start-up, bringing with him his mission to promote the circular economy and resilient, sustainable urban environments.

Sharad joins Optibus at a time of significant challenge and change for the North America public transportation sector. The push to divest in fossil fuels has seen the industry ramp up vehicle electrification, ridership remains below pre-pandemic levels and will continue to evolve with the rise of remote work, and driver (operator) shortages continue to disrupt services and operations. Optibus puts powerful technologies in the hands of transportation agencies and operators in order to positively transform the nature of their work and help them address these challenges. Sharad will play a pivotal role in expanding Optibus’ footprint in North America and helping agencies navigate these complex challenges.
